Somatic Yin & Self-Massage (workshop)

More stretching isn’t necessarily what your body needs to relieve tension. And often even regular massages don’t provide long-term relief. Somatic Yin & Self-Massage offers an approach to develop more awareness of your body and its holding patterns, so you can discover daily practices that not only provide immediate relief, but actually reduce the amount of tension you retain.

In yin yoga we use relaxing, long-held positions to create gentle openings, and in self-massage we’ll use tennis balls to get tissues moving and fluids flowing.

The somatic element is what makes this workshop unique. Somatics is all about finely tuned self-awareness and the ability to self-regulate. In this workshop you’ll be guided through somatic meditation alongside the self-massage techniques and yin postures, so you can learn to become attuned and sensitive to your own body and what it holds.

We’ll work with the breath, visualisation and other somatic cues to help you shift your nervous system state, which is ultimately the most important factor in mental and physical stress patterns.
